How do I figure this geometry question out? Its about inscribed angles.?

Q. I have a geometry question that Im completely lost on! Its about inscribed angles but more specifically, its a quadrilateral in a circle. Its asking me to find the measure of angle B. Arc AB equals 92 and Arc BC equals 80. Help?

A. arc BC = 360-(92+80) = 188
so since an inscribed angle equals
half of its intercepted arc
then angle B=94

How to solve for inscribed angles?
Q. Angle C is an inscribed angle of circle P. Angle C measures (16x â 1)° and arc AB measures (20x + 10)°. Find x.

A. (20x + 10)/2 = 16x - 1
10x + 5 = 16x - 1
6x = 6
x = 1

I hope this helps!

angle difference when seen in a circle and on a straight plane?
Q. An inscribed angle in a circle when measured with specific equipment turns out to be 100 degrees. That same angle when measured on a straight plane with specific equipment turns out to be 95 degrees. Why is there this difference?

Thanks beforehand

A. the circle lies on a different plane.

Worth to read?

Q. Can you people recommend me good Java blogs or well written articles. Maybe even post your whole Java bookmark collection :D

I am interested in performance, Swing, Hibernate, jBoss, log4j, Derby, generics, patterns, cool code, Eclipse templates and plugins, tutorial to new features, good OOP design.

And please do not post a site link, saying something good can be found here, but page link to that sweetness :D
I agree that Bruce Eckel's book is very good and has been for years. I guess everybody who use Java have read it :D
Btw, one link to second book you recommended would be http://books.google.ee/books?hl=et&id=LjJcCnNf92kC&dq=Headfirst+Design+Patterns&printsec=frontcover&source=web&ots=_9ZXbCj2sX&sig=jABxQ01QxcZ61ZsQ71E1hUOq8fo#PPA407,M1

A. Well, there is a free e-book online called "Thinking in Java" written by Bruce Eckel. (http://www.mindview.net/Books/TIJ/). In my honest opinion it is the best, most comprehensive book you can read in order to learn Java.

The best book for OOP design (again in my humble opinion) is called "Headfirst Design Patterns" which has a very hands-on approach and really gets you into the "mind set" for design using patterns.

save & load in CATIA v6?

Q. does anyone use catia v6? How do I save in v6?! the local save button is not available anytime, and with propagate button, i guess i save my work. but how do i open it again?!?
I've made a piston. not whole one. i made only the cylindrical part, aka yes, the piston. doesn't matter, (i named it klip, because I'm Croatian...) I propagated the representation and the product, restarted catia, and this shows http://img413.imageshack.us/my.php?image=16415439ll7.jpg
ok, (the rest of representations are failed attempts also) i double click on klip, and this shows http://img294.imageshack.us/my.php?image=96850497tw6.jpg a 3D model of a folder tree, it can't be more stupid, i clicked on everything, double click, triple click, and everything i click, absolutely nothing happens, if there is a button called "MURDER CATIA" I'd click it!!! It's just... i can't open files, and i saving can't be more stupid (propagate=save, right??).

this catia v6 i literately driving me insane!

please help me. how do i properly save and load/open files?
on v5 it was great. click here, click there, and you got it all

please help.
THANK YOU

A. sorry i haven't worked with V6 , but thats funny how they made the tree, 3d!

What is the difference between CATIA Lite and CATIA V4/V5/V6?
Q.

A. The only difference between these devices is that Lite has smoother physical features and quicker working features whole V4/V5/V6 has regular components and features.

Good luck!

Finite Element Analysis and Simulation software.?
Q. Im a 2nd year mechanical engineering student. I have come across 3 FEA/FEM and simulation softwares, and I am sure there are more. The three i have come across are FEA workbench in catia v6, ansys 14 and abaqus. Im not sure which one to learn. I would like to learn a software that is useful in terms of functionality, and one that will benefit me the most in industry (ie whats most used in industry/ what employers are looking for). I will primarily be focusing on static analysis, but other functionality such as dynamic, electromagnetic, thermo, and various simulations are important as i want a complete software package to learn. Also if you recommend Ansys, can you please tell me whether to learn Ansys workbench, or Ansys mechanical ADPL, as ive heard the latter is more useful in functionality, but I am not too sure.

Furthermore, if you can provide me with some sites to help me learn the software you recommend, then that will be great.

Thank you in advance.

A. Of the three you listed, ANSYS and Abaqus are the most useful. Catia is only useful for CAD. which one you use is mostly dependent on your goal. ANSYS can pretty much do it all, but Abaqus is best for purely mechanical applications.

I personally recommend ANSYS. APDL is a programming language, not a separate software package. that being said, do not use workbench. it is too generic and not as powerful. you really need to learn the various ANSYS software packages separately like FLUENT and the other (sorry cant remember their names, I don't use them often..) packages for structural and multicomponent simulations. the good news is that they are all interrelated and you can export and import projects between them. here's the ANSYS support website (http://www.ansys.com/Resource+Library) which has tutorials and whatnot...

2008 NISSAN A

A. I would get the Yukon or Suburban. Those things run forever.

What is the best way to keep a laptop battery good and keep a good charge?
Q. I have some older laptops that I collect and since they sit on display all the time and I don't use them I would assume that they will loose there charge. To keep them good is it best to always keep them charged or to drain them completely and leave them that way?

A. I agree with iiFii =] because most older laptops would probably have Nichol-Cadmium (ni-cad) batteries. If you have any with a Lithium-ion (Li-ion) battery, it is best to remove the battery and store it in cold place such as a refrigerator.

What do I need to set up a laptop to display on a second monitor?
Q. I work with CAD software programs and need two work areas: one displayed on my laptop, and the other on a separate monitor.

I am running an HP Pavilion dv6000 laptop and the monitor is an HP flat screen.

What do I need to make this work?

A. get a vga cable and hook up from laptop to monitor
if it has dvi in and out then dvi same with hdmi but easiest way is vga
1 go to start
2 go to control panel
3 new view appearence and settings then display
3 or old style go to display
4 go to settings
5 click on number 2 blue screen
6 click enable
7 click apply

then just drag one of your workings to the monitor

gl and if you restart the laptop with cable out it will revert back to normal settings

Is there any easier method to convert the 2D floor plan to 3D plan to make a virtual tour of the building?

Q. I wish to know, Any specific method or software available online. And can you please tell me How many hours it will take to convert a 2D floor plan to 3D virtual tour plan for an ordinary apartment.

A. Download Google Sketch Up, which is free of charge. To create an apartment in 3D, it will take you perhaps an hour, including the time to get coffee twice.

What is a 3d desgin program better than google sketchup( im thinking there are millions)?
Q. google sketch up gives me massive random errors and the blue screen of death, it is also laggy on my new gaming computer (wtf?) i need something as easy to use thats actually good

A. I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for, but Blender 3d is a good free 3d modeling/animation program.

What's a good program to draw 3d stuff?
Q. Like no google sketch up. I want something easy so I could like design a room with like walls and furniture and etc.

A. As Matt said, CAD and alot of Autodesk programs are fantastic, they are expensive, but are free for students!!!

how to convert illustrator to coral draw to be able to use at the vinyl cutters?

Q.

A. Illustrator can save out in a variety of file formats. I suggest Illustrator .ai version 8. According to Wiki, corelDraw supports the following files
.ai, .cdr, .ps, .eps, .pdf, .svg, .dxf

the only difficulty I foresee is corelDraw is Windows and fonts can be a big time problem coming from a Mac illustrator exported file.

If that proves to be the case, the fonts. In Illustrator get your artwork 1:1 to final size, Select All... then Outline Text and save a copy.

How can one machine, or cut and shape small (pen ink) sizes of metal cheaply?
Q. I was looking to make something similar like this...
http://media.naplesnews.com/media/img/photos/2012/09/01/634811_t607.JPG
Of course it would be an individual finger. Half of a pointer finger on my fathers right hand to be exact. I have a fair amount of tools as a plumber and small mechanic, however I don't have a shop and this would be a one-time deal. If you look closely the peices making up a finger are actually relatively simple. I mean, thin aluminum like a soda can could probably be cut up into a basic shape, and i have a drill bit set small enough to make some of those holes. Can anyone point me in the right direction? I contacted the original person, and they quoted me about 4,000 dollars for a half finger, and thats a bit crazy if you ask me, for something purely mechanical.

A. You could look for a company that does laser cutting. I just had some quite intricate panels cut from 2mm aluminium. Including laser etching markings on them they were £20 ($30) each and they look beautuful.

You will have to do the design work, because that's what costs. They will need a drawing of all the parts to work from, ideally in Autocad format (dwg or dxf) but they will probably be able to convert from pdf, gif, etc. And don't forget to tell them the scale!

For solid parts like the fingertips look at materials called Polymorph, a plastic which is mouldable in hot water, and Sugru, which is an air curing silicone putty.

The hand in the link looks like it has some sort of system to amplify the small movement of the finger stumps into a large movement of the tips, and looking at the thinness of the parts they are probably titanium or something, so it doesn't surprise me that it's expensive.

Is there software which can convert PDF to AutoCAD including the text?
Q. PDF to AutoCAD software translators I've tried do not convert the annotations (text and numbers) to true AutoCAD text.
I've tried AutoDWG, AnyDWG, etc. and they make good geometry translation. However, the texts are all exploded into primitives (lines, arcs, plines, etc.). I was hoping for some kind of OCR built-in which also translates the PDF texts into AutoCAD texts which can be edited.

A. Yes... You can...

what small screen laptop is best for a heavy hulu user and online video watching?

Q.

A. Core i-3, better than Core 2 Duo
Core i-5, better than Core i-3 in interactive social networking & creating home videos
Core i-7, better than Core i-5 in designing your own website

You don't care about the video card w/c fits your budget just fine. If a laptop has a dedicated video card, the price goes up (this is indicated by A LOGO STICKER for NVIDIA or ATI MOBILITY RADEON on the computer surface is just below the keyboard. But if you can find a good deal with at least 256MB dedicated video card, it will be better for watching your DVDs.
Just make sure that the laptop has AT LEAST 2GB DDR2 RAM modules in it so that it will always ran smoothly & not freeze up on you (HIGHER IS BETTER; DDR3 & DDR5 are faster & newer types of memory modules that came out).
But what makes a computer really run fast? It is it's processor! So if you really want your processor to have computing prowess & you're able to run different applications simultaneously, make sure it's AS EFFICIENT AS an Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (Centrino 2 is a Core 2 Duo featuring power saving capabilities; Quad Core is for gaming fanatics). A Core 2 Duo is like having 2 motors running the computer each independent of the other w/c means for a Quad Core, it's like 4 motors are running the machine (that means it will run faster & more efficient even if its frequency is lower to that of a Core 2 Duo). Intel: Core 2 Duo, Centrino 2, Quad Core, Core i-3, Core i-5 & Core i-7 are all very much faster & better than an Intel: DUAL CORE, PENTIUM, CELERON, ATOM & their more affordable AMD counterparts.
In your case, get one with a Core 2 Duo and not a Pentium, Celeron or Atom if you can. Just make sure you have AT LEAST 2GHz of speed on your processor so that will be able to appreciate your laptop's fast response and performance.
The HDD (Hard Disc Drive) should be at least 320GB.
For the battery life to last longer, you need more cells into it. So if you can get a Dell from www.Dell.com with the HIGHER CAPACITY 6 CELL BATTERY, do so. The ordinary one doesn't last long.
8 cells, 9 cells & 12 cell batteries means they can last longer.
The average laptop LCD screen size is 15.4", and since you want something smaller than that w/ these 3 features I just shed some light on, expect the price to go higher (ex. for 13.3" & 14.1" LCD screens).

For other ladies, looking for portable 14" laptops, try the Core i-5 Toshiba Satellite M645-S4050 or Satellite E205-S1980 from BestBuy, both comes with 512MB Class 3 NVIDIA GeForce 310M dedicated graphics card for a little bit of gaming like the SIMS 3.

FOR the best PRICEs, go to Fry's Electronics, MicroCenter, CostCo & BestBuy's web sites for updates & COMPARISON. There are a lot of options & different combinations if you want to customize your own laptop, just STICK TO THE ESSENTIALS first.
The MSI GT680R 15.6" Gaming Notebook I got w/ the Intel® Core⢠i-7 for playing my DesignCAD software and playing Diablo III, retails for $1,499.99 (+ tax & other sur-charges). I chose to pay more to have the newest technology so that I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT GETTING OUTDATED WITHIN THE NEXT 11 YRS.

One aspect to consider that produces heat is battery charging. Basically, as you charge up a battery, it heats up because current runs through it. Add that to the humidity and temperature of the location, it may feel even hotter than usual. FYI: I always tell my customers, a laptop's battery is similar to a cell phone's. You charge it when it's depleted & you unplug the adapter when it is already fully charge (this will prevent the battery from getting overcharged & extend the life of the battery). So for less hassle, I always advice my customers to just remove the battery if they plan to use the computer for long hours straight (more than 1 hour) and just run it on AC power alone so as not to overcharge it & shorten the battery life. That is if there is an available outlet for you to plug in your charger at Starbucks, if not, then you really need the battery.

I have an ASUS k60ij laptop I called the company and they said I could upgrade the graphics card but best buy ?
Q. So should I just bring it to best buy and see what they say

A. Are you sure you talked to the Tech Expert from ASUS? Was this the no. you called, ASUS Tech Experts hotline number (1-888-678-3688)?
He must've been a newbie to keep your hopes up. Your laptop has an Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500M which is like free that's why it is integrated into the motherboard.
click here: http://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-K60IJ-RBLX05.23461.0.html

The only upgradable parts of a laptop is the RAM if it is supported by the motherboard; increasing the Hard Drive capacity if you can find one that is compatible w/ your system; & having a new fan put in to replace the old one.
For the Processor, good luck, if you can find one that is compatible with the chipset & other components of your system w/ the right pins to fit into your mother board. Likewise with your integrated graphics card which is soldered to the motherboard.
Unlike desktop computers which are upgradeable, for laptops, what you bought is strictly what you get. You can try looking for cheap shops, but you'll end up paying more in the long run.

My suggestion, just save up your money for now & then when you have saved up, buy one on Black Friday or on Christmas that you wont need to upgrade in the long run.

Playing for long hours? Get a COOLER MASTER U2 Notebook Cooler w/c has dual purposes. Cool thing about it is, you can position the fans on the right spot for better ventialation. When travelling, detach the easily detacheable dual fan, then use the aluminum frame as a protection for your laptop's screen when inside the bag. I got mine from MicroCenter.com for $15, 48% cheaper than the regular $25 tag (FRYS.com SKU#: 6344931).
watch the video: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834997730

The MSI GT680R 15.6" Gaming Notebook I got w/ the Intel® Core⢠i-7 for using my DesignCAD software and playing Diablo III, retails for $1,499.99 (+ tax & other sur-charges).
I chose to pay more to have the newest technology so that I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT GETTING OUTDATED WITHIN THE NEXT 11 YRS.

If you're a lil' bit low on budget, get the next best thing. The msi GE620-021 15.6" Gaming Notebook also features a 2nd Generation Intel Core i7 Processor 2630QM & 8GB DDR3 RAM, just 640GB HDD, but only a Class 2, 1GB NVIDIA GT540M dedicated graphics card that can also handle DirectX 11 effects from FRYS.com (SKU#: 6539123).
The ASUS N53SV-XR1 is $150 cheaper, but comes w/ ONLY 4GB of memory.
click here: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834152258

Additional info, read on:
I used to work for a big name computer company & usually received a lot of call regarding battery issues.
A brand new computer's battery comes w/ a Standard 1yr Limited Warranty w/c means the expected life time of battery is only 1 year. Same thing goes for the charger.
So, if you don't know how to take care of it, it will die out on you sooner than than expected.

ONLY USE THE BATTERY FOR PORTABILITY, if you're on a trip, at McDonalds or Starbucks.
If your not after its portability, you can use it just plugged into the wall socket all the time.

For chargers, make sure you don't stretch out the cable too much that the one by the power jack that you plug into the side of the computer gets bent. Make sure this part is always straight or else the copper wires inside will break & soon you'll have the problem of the charger not working anymore like what happened to some of my callers.

For other ladies, looking for portable 14" laptops, try the Core i-5 Toshiba Satellite M645-S4050 or Satellite E205-S1980 from BestBuy.com, both comes with 512MB Class 3 NVIDIA GeForce 310M dedicated graphics card for a little bit of gaming like the SIMS 3.

FOR the best PRICE COMPARISON, go to Fry's Electronics, MicroCenter, CostCo & BestBuy's web sites.

If he is into gaming, then get him the MSI GT680R 15.6" Gaming Notebook I got w/ the Intel® Core⢠i-7 for using my DesignCAD software and playing Diablo III, retails for $1,499.99 (+ tax & other sur-charges). I chose to pay more to have the newest technology so that I DON'T HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT IT GETTING OUTDATED WITHIN THE NEXT 11 YRS. It's the newest affordable gaming laptop I've seen which beats the more expensive brands.

How do I insert pages of a PDF file into a Word document?

Q. I'm doing a lesson plan for something and had to photocopy papers and have them be scanned and put on my flash drive. When I uploaded them to my computer, they were in a PDF file (Adobe). How can I put these pages into the document exactly how they look? I tried copy and paste, but that doesn't work because of the page margins.

A. To produce a highres 300dpi version of a pdf page, I would recommend importing the pdf file into Photoshop or Illustrator and save each page as a jpg or bmp - however, those cost (lots of) money. A free solution would be to install ghostscript and irfanview, open the properties/settings in irfanview, and change the postscript options to 300 dpi. When you view a pdf file in Irfanview, the file will be rasterized to a 300 dpi bitmap file! Next, save the file in a Word compatible format, such as jpg.

ghostscript:
http://pages.cs.wisc.edu/~ghost/index.ht...

irfanview:
http://www.irfanview.com/

Steps:
1 - install ghostscript
2 - install irfanview
3 - download the plugins for irfanview and install those: http://irfanview.tuwien.ac.at/plugins/ir...
4 - start irfanview
5 - choose OPTIONS-->PROPERTIES/SETTINGS in the menu
6 - click POSTSCRIPT OPTIONS
7 - set the required paper size, and change the resolution to 300 dpi
8 - open the pdf file.
8a - optional: drag a selection around part you would like to crop, and hit <ctrl><y>
9 - save the high-res image file as a jpg or bmp. (bmp retains sharpness of cad drawings much better)
10 - repeat for each page and import in word.

This method works like a charm and does not require you to buy any software. What's more, you decide on the resolution.

Do be aware, though, that they will not be editable in Word, since they were converted to images when you photocopied/scanned them. It is possible to extract the text and layout and convert those to Word again, but you will need either ReadIris or Omnipage - both of which cost money. A free option to get at least the text extracted may already be installed on your computer (if you have Office installed, that is):

Good luck.

Where can i find free tutorials for autocad, specifically using it to draw architectural plans?
Q. A pdf document would be preferred rather than video tutorials, both would be better! Should i just start with the tutorials on autodesk? or can i skip straight to the architectural stuff?
i am new to autocad but have a bit of experience using maya
by the way i am a mac user!

A. I have researched some websites for you to learn autocad for free and also the pdf file which tells about architectural drawings.

What are some hobbies or activites that you can use a computer for?
Q. EX. Wrestling Coach:
You can...
1.Prepare Documents
2.Maintain Records
3.E-mail (contact other coaches)
4. Recruting (update websites for college coaches)

Don't say video games, IM, Email etc becuase those are the wrong answers. Also don't say graphic design because that is not a hobby.

A. Model Railroading... I use my computer for:

1) Research: Looking for images of locomotives, rail-cars, bridges, buildings, etc. I also use Google Earth to help with how to lay-out certain features like "yards".

2) Design: there are a number of software programs that let you "plan" your layout (model railroad) on the computer. You can make your errors and mistakes on the computer... much less expensive that finding that error when you've actually laid track !!

3) Construction: I used Auto-Cad programs and Adobe Photo-shop to convert photos of buildings, bridges, and accessories into PLANS that I can then scale and use to construct all the hundreds of buildings on my layout.

4) Operations: I have a DCC (Digital Cab Control) system that I have connected to my computer.. it allows me to plan routes, set switches, and "dispatch" my trains. It also controls all the signals and lights on my layout... I run a "fast-clock" that makes time move 3 times as fast as normal, and the "Sun" rises and sets in the room and the building and street lights turn off and on from computer generated commands.

I ALSO use the computer to "organize" my railroad... from generating "train orders" and and calculating loads... to printing out directions to my friends who come to "work" as train and yard engineers.

I would say that Graphic Design IS a hobby as long as you're not doing it for a CAREER or for pay !!

what are the papers needed to get a tourist visa going to romania and how long it takes and cost of it?
Q. I'm planning to go to romania just a tourist one but i don't know yet those papers needed and how long it takes and cost as well.
I'm a filipino citizen.

A. Many countries, including the US, Canada, and much of Europe do not need to apply for a tourist visa to visit Romania. The following are the countries exempt from the visa requirement:
http://www.romaniacanada.com/consularservices/consularservices/annex1.htm

Otherwise, the cost and processing time will depend on where you're applying. For example, when applying from the US it would cost $40 USD for a single entry, $75 USD for a multiple entry visa. From Canada, it's $50 CAD for a single entry and $90 CAD for a multiple entry. (Note that these fees are for applying for a visa while you are in the US/Canada, and may have nothing to do with your passport and nationality. I researched the information from the Romanian embassies in the US/Canada/UK since the information is available in English, but the process and fees should be relatively similar no matter which country you apply from.)

In Canada, the processing time for a tourist visa is 5 days, unless you are a citizen of a country that requires an invitation, in which case the processing time is 35 days. The lsit of invitation-only countries can be found here:
http://www.romaniacanada.com/consularservices/consularservices/annex3.htm

The required papers for a tourist (short stay) visa application:
- Completed application form
- Passport (valid for 6 months beyond your visit)
- One color passport photo
- Proof of legal residence if you are applying in a country other than your home country
- For those in Annex 3 countries (list linked above), Letter of invitation from Romanian tourist company (may be possible to substitute proof of foreign residence in certain countries)
- Flight reservation
- Hotel reservation or Letter of invitation (for private residence)
- Proof of funds (i.e. bank statements)
- Proof of medical insurance
- Application fee
[Note that you are to provide an original AND a copy of each of the above documents]

I have to write a research paper about any topic that is related to education. Any ideas for a topic?
Q. I'm having trouble thinking of a topic for this paper and it's driving me crazy! It's for a college course, good ideas?
Jim, that's a very interesting topic! I'm actually from Ky and I think it would be a fun to write about this. I believe that my professor as well as my classmates would like to be enlightened about this and it's also an original idea. Thank you!

A. My favorite subject in education has always been the traditional "one room school house." There was an author from back in the 1930's who taught school in a poor, rural district of Kentucky...who had to fight the ignorance of the parents who wanted their children to help on the farm vrs going to school. This teacher succeeded in teaching the kids calculus and took them to state and national contests where they eventually won...but what excited me was how he was able to achieve this. It's been many years now, I think his first name was Jesse - ah! Jesse Stuart. I just remembered. He wrote some short stories about it and I believe even some books. The point I am making is, how was traditional education conducted in rural settings as compared to today's educational process. It would be a very interesting paper indeed...it would take some real study and work on your part but probably would fascinate you and your professor. :)

How do I embed my Google Sketch-Up drawings into a html website?

Q. I want my website to have a window displaying my sketch-up module that the user can click and drag to rotate the object and scroll up and down to zoom in. I am not sure if this is possible but it would be great if it was.

A. well, it's possible because Google does it for model objects in the external Warehouse application.

There are high-end applications which do this for sophisticated 3D environments created in 3DS Max, Maya, C4D, etc.

But your best bet is probably creating QuickTimeVR objects you can embed on your webpage. You'll just need to export multiple still-image views of your SketchUp model(s) to create the interactive VR panorama.

What is the best program to use when starting 3d graphic design?
Q. Hey, I want to get started in 3d graphic design and I would like to know what the best program to use is. I know that there's Blender, but it seems to be not just designing since you need Python code to run it. (Don't even mention using Blender please. I know all about it and it is not what I want) I don't want to use Python. I just want an open-source program just for 3d graphic design.

A. google sketch up?

what is kmz file in google 3d warehouse?
Q. I a 3d modeler in google sketch-up but i don't know what is KMZ file in google 3d warehouse and its use---plz help?

A. *.kmz is the native file format for Google Earth. A *.kmz file generated by Google SketchUp (as you've found in 3D Warehouse) is a compressed archive file containing *.kml (the "Keyhole Markup Language" - the primary file format for sharable geospatial data in Earth) and a COLLADA (*.dae) file containing a 3D model.

COLLADA is an open 3D asset exchange popularized by Sony Interactive and managed by the Khronos Group. For more information about COLLADA, check out http://www.collada.org

How do you find the radius of a circle given the length of a chord and the area enclosed by that chord?

Q. The chord has a length of 100 and the area enclosed by the chord has an area of 400. How do you find the radius of the circle and what is it?

A. The formula for the area, A, of a chord is

A = R² arccos(r / R) - r â(R² - r²)

where R is the radius of the circle.

r is the distance between the chord and
the center of the circle. In other words
â(R² - r²) = w/2 where w is the length of
the chord.

You were given A = 400 and w = 100. So

400 = R² arccos(r/R) - 50r
R² arccos(r/R) = 400 + 50r
arccos(r/R) = (400 + 50r)/R²
cos( (400 + 50r)/R²) = r/R
cos²( (400 + 50r)/R²) = r²/R²

where â(R² - r²) = 50 implies
r² = R² - 2500

So we need to solve the equations
R² = r² + 2500
cos²( (400 + 50r)/R²) = r²/R²

OR

cos²( (400 + 50r)/(2500 + r²)) = r²/(2500 + r²)

sin²( (400 + 50r)/(2500 + r²)) = 2500/(2500 + r²)

Let r = 50x, then

sin²( (x + 0.16)/(x² + 1)) = 1/(x² + 1)

Wolfram alpha says that x = 4.11874506121247

So

r = 205.9372530606235
R = 211.92015524285386649

check:
R² arccos(r / R) - r â(R² - r²) = 399.99999999999969

So the radius of your circle is about 211.92015524285386649

Find the area of a segment formed by a chord 8 inches long in a circle with radius of 8 inches?
Q. To answer this question, give the correct formula on how to solve it.

A. You will need several formulas to solve this:

area of the segment = area of the sector - area of the triangle bound by the chord and the radii

* you have to solve for the area of the sector and the area of the triangle

area of the sector = pi * r^2 * (angle / 360)

* You need to determine the angle. You can calculate this via trigonometry (i.e. cosine law). However, take note that the triangle bound by the chord and the radii is an equilateral triangle. Hence, the angle in this problem is 60 degrees.

area of the triangle = 1/2 bh

* b = the length of the chord; h = the height of the triangle, calculate this using trigonometry

You now have everything you need to solve the area of the segment.

What is the formula for finding a chord in a circle?
Q. also, if you know the radius, if there is a circle that has radius of 10, and a chord intercepts the radius, If PQ = 10 and PC = 6, what is AB?
if the chord intercepts at c, the radius is from PCQ

A. the chord segments have the following lengths: A= 6, C=3, D=4. Use the theorem for the product of chord segments to find the value of D.

what programs can add a 3D diagonal view to a screenshot graphic?

Q. Hello,

I cant find an example right now, but looking for a program that can generate a diagonal 3D view of a screenshot graphic?

Any suggestions?

Thank You!

A. Does the screenshot need actual depth added? If not, the answer is easy:

1) download Paint.net - http://www.getpaint.net/

2) create a screenshot

3) paste into a new layer, and scale to preferred size (use corner handles to do this)

4) choose LAYERS --> ROTATE/ZOOM in the menu to change the perspective angle. Use the 'trackball' to do this by dragging the mouse over it.

5) Done. Create a selection of the part of the screen you wish to maintain, and choose IMAGE-->CROP TO SELECTION.

If you need true 3d, with shadows and reflections, and all, try 3D Box Shot Maker:
http://www.bosseye.com/boxshot/index.htm

Just use a single color image for the sides and the screengrab for the front. Free and simple.

How do you check to see if you are viewing pages with an unsupported browser?
Q. Sometimes it seems as though the real web pages have been substituted. If this is true, does it mean someone using the network has entered my domain and now has access to my pc? What is the purpose for a hacker, if that is what it is to do something like that?

A. If you really see something like this happening you probably have adware or a bad bho(s) on your system. You should go to download.com and download a few adware programs. Not just one will clean things up.

Get adaware, spybot search and destroy, cwshredder for starters.

I have not tried this out yet but it looks like it might be worth a try (free for seven days) http://www.download.com/SpywareKill/3000-8022_4-10449487.html?tag=lst-0-7

Is your anti virus up to date? I would suggest getting AVG on download.com also, install all of the updates and do a deep scan.

When ypou are are done scanning everything the last thing I would do is clean up the garbage in the registry. There are a ton of products for this but I would recommend a safe tool like tweaknow (this is the link to the free version) http://www.download.com/TweakNow-RegCleaner-Standard/3000-2094_4-10616938.html?tag=lst-0-2.

Done foget to clean all of the garb ou r from IE - tools > internet options and delete history, cookies and temp internet files. It doesn't hurt to go into settings > view objects and remove suspicious looking items (if you don't know what they are look them up). make sure to remove any leftover files under settings also.

How do you respond to your girlfriend asking you why you download porn?
Q. My girlfriend just texted me why do I like downloading porn? It's a very difficult question to answer. What are my options?

A. Your options? Simple - lie or tell the truth - I'd opt for the truth. It's not really a difficult question to answer, but in reality, an embarrassing question to answer. But it's time to be open. It's not really that strange, but it's not for everybody either. If it bothers her, you may need to come up with some compromise. But the truth is that that the majority of men watch (or have watched) porn. Men are what are called "visual creatures" as we get turned on my visual stimuli. We see hot naked women, it turns us on. That's nature at it's best. Women are more aroused by their emotions - if they are in love, that turns them on. Yes, that is generalizing, but true for most.

so there you are - men and women are different. You will never make her understand it from your point of view - hence the reason to compromise. Men are from Mars and Women are from Venus. Great book - read it and you'll learn more about why you two will never think on the exact same wave length.
