I need to find a CAD Application?
Q. I need a free CAD application that is not a trial, I am okay with it if is very cheap. I need it to use Orthographic Projection. I run VMware Fusion 2, so the application can be Windows XP or Mac OS X Leopard, Thanks!

A. progeCAD is probably the best value for any real 2D CAD design, works a lot like AutoCAD (edit DWG, AutoCAD commands, AutoLISP, rendering) but only costs few hundred dollars:

If you are looking at a stronger 3D CAD I would easily suggest Alibre - especially when they are running a price promo which they often do:

Since CAD is a more technical software I would strongly suggest support be a considering factor in the entire picture.

Does anyone know where I can get some AutoCad Release 14 or higher software CHEAP?
Q.

A. Nope.

Autodesk don't sell Autocad cheap. And they make sure no one else does. Do you need flow blown Autocad?

If you aren't going to be working in 3D then Autocad LT does everything in 2D that Autocad can.
You can also use LT to view 3D models just not create them.

It's also significantly cheaper.

Another option is upgrade offers.

Autodesk and it's resellers offer upgrade discounts to encourage users to move to the newest version. This is only an option if you already have an old version. And they aren't always available. Best getting on the phone to a local reseller to see.

Finally do you really need Autocad?

There are DWG compatible CAD programs available that work in an Autocad like fashion and cost little.

I use Autocad and Inventor professionally so can't speak to the quality of these alternative programs.

Saying that it's got to be worth a trial download.
